Jim & Joanne ParkerJim Parker likes to be out in his yard to do his own landscaping. As he works, he sees the Westfield cross-country team run by and they always say “hi." Jim ran cross country in college and enjoyed the camaraderie and the comfort it brought him as a student.  Because of his connection with Westfield State, he received his graduate degree here, and the cross-country team members Jim wanted to see what he, and his wife, Joanne could do for the team. Jim welcomed the opportunity to make a gift using the IRA required minimum distribution. In doing so, Jim reduced his yearly tax burden and is always asking his friends, “What if I told you that I could save you money on your taxes?”

He wants others to know that they can have a significant impact at Westfield State when they choose to make a gift through their IRA, while at the same time benefitting from the positive tax implications.
